RBC, in partnership with Conservation Ontario, is pleased to invite the public to participate in ‘Gates Open’ – a day of free admission on Sunday the 8th of June, at many of Ontario’s Conservation Areas. Gates Open is a signature event in Ontario for Community Week (June 6th to the 13th) and builds off of RBC’s Blue Water Project that was announced in late 2007.

The RBC Blue Water Project is a wide-ranging, multi-year program to help ensure that people have clean fresh water today and tomorrow. The first phase of the RBC Blue Water Project is a grant program of $50 million over ten years to support initiatives related to watershed protection and access to clean drinking water. Under the auspices of Conservation Ontario, there are close to 400 Conservation Areas located within 36 Conservation Authorities throughout the province featuring a wide array of unique natural landscapes and features including important water resources that we rely on every day. Over 250 of these locations also offer a variety of family-friendly activities for all ages of outdoor and nature enthusiasts. For more information, visit www.conservationontario.com

“The Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) is pleased to open it’s gates on Sunday the 8th of June 2008 to support this program” according to RRCA General Manager, Roger Houde. He adds that “Gray’s Creek and Cooper Marsh are provided year round at no cost to residents or visitors, but even Charlottenburgh Park will be included in this one day event.” Free admission includes fees for gate admission and parking only – camping fees still apply.
