Book? "In the Land of Long Fingernails"- A Gravedigger's memoir
Charles Wilkins will give an account of his newly released book, "In the Land of Long Fingernails," which is based on his personal experience working as a summer student at a cemetery in the east end of Toronto in 1969.
You will be amazed at the anecdotes of the strange mix of characters he meets, the unsavoury and sometimes macabre tasks he takes on, and learn about some of the absurdities of the death industry. The book is intriguing, revealing and often humorous. Wilkins draws back the curtain and show us what's lurking at centre stage.
Charles Wilkins is the author of a dozen books, including Walk to New York, A Wilderness Called Home and The Circus at the Edge of the Earth, all of which were listed in the Globe and Mails's top 100 books. Recently, he edited "CC 200- A Memoir of Voices" for the Bicentennial Celebrations at CCVS.
