29th Annual Terry Fox Run
Tens of thousands of families across Ontario will participate in the 29th edition of The Terry Fox Run on Sunday, September 13, 2009. In 2008, the generous people of this province raised $11.5 million for cancer research by participating in community and school runs. In 2008, Cornwall’s community run generated $15,400 in donations and the school runs generated an additional $11,200!
This year, why not make Sunday September 13th a Terry Fox Day for your family! There is a lot of value in promoting fundraising and helping your community as a family. It’s important that children see their parents actively participate in the Terry Fox Run too so they understand that he's just not talked about in school - he's an inspiration and a hero to everyone. It’s a great event to not only raise money that goes directly to cancer research, but it’s also a wonderful way to spend some quality family time together!
The Terry Fox Run will be held on Sunday, September 13th at the Cornwall Civic Complex. Between 8:00 am and 1:00PM, everyone is invited to run, walk, bicycle, or rollerblade 1 to 10km along the bike path. Participants can register inside the Civic Complex by making a personal donation of any amount, or by collecting pledges from friends, neighbours, family members and co-workers ahead of time and remitting their pledges at the Run Site. Pledge forms can be picked up at most Banks or Health Clubs in Cornwall as well as both LCBO locations, Pat’s Home Cookin’, the Aquatic Centre, Short Line Convenience & Video Store, Guindon Esso Gas Station, Play It Again Sports & the Corus Entertainment office. Participants can also download and print their own pledge sheets or collect pledges online by visiting www.terryfox.org.
