Discover amazing art and amazing spaces this fall during the award-winning Apples & Art Studio Tour.

Now in its 27th year, the Apples & Art Studio Tour brings together dozens of local artists for a weekend showcase of art, culture and community. This year’s tour features a group of 70 artists exhibiting at 22 different locations throughout Cornwall and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry on Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30th.

“The goal of the tour is to give residents and visitors a chance to enjoy art in the spaces where it is actually created,” said Virginia Lake, one of the event organizers. “It’s a chance to meet the artists, to chat, to see their work in a natural setting and enjoy the wellness of visual beauty and friendly company.”

Participants can expect to discover artists who work with paint, ink, clay, fine stones, wood and glass to create original pieces of art.

“It’s a chance to see the countryside, visit studios where artists display their work and find that perfect piece for home or for a gift,” said Mrs. Lake. “Take a drive through some of the prettiest countryside in eastern Ontario and stop at local markets, shops and restaurants.”

In addition to the dozens of artists, this year’s tour will feature two local secondary schools, CCVS and Tagwi, which will showcase their art, drama and music departments. To see this young emerging talent, make sure to visit the Cornwall Public Library and Tagwi High School sites on the tour.

The tour runs Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30 from 10 am to 4 pm both days.

In addition to discovering amazing artwork, it’s also a chance to discover some amazing local businesses and establishments. Rurban Brewing, Cailuan Gallery, Cline House Gallery and The Stomping Grounds Bistro are just some of the participating locations on this year’s tour.

About Apples & Art Studio Tour

Held during the last weekend of September, the Apples & Art Studio Tour provides a collective venue for artists up their studio space to the community and visitors, encouraging them to find out more about the arts through discussion about the work, their processes and through various hands on demonstrations that would take place during the tour.

The Apples & Art Studio Tour was the recipient of the Business Excellence Award for Tourism by the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce in 2016. Last year’s tour saw 3,600 studio visits and $40,000 worth of art sold during the two-day event.

The tour is organized by a group of artists working with Your Arts Council.
