“Chef, You’ve Been Chopped!”
Cornwall, ON – June 28, 2017 – The competition is coming to an end. There’s less than a minute left, and everybody is scrambling, speeding past each other and bumping shoulders in hopes of getting their plates ready before the buzzer stops. The chefs are sweating, their hearts are beating, and their hands are shaking. With a second to go, they rush to place their final ingredient onto their plates. The timer has stopped. There’s nothing the chefs can do now. It’s out of their hands. They’ve all left their hearts and souls in that kitchen, and each one of them hopes that was enough to guarantee a win.
Do you love that adrenaline? Do you love watching chefs compete in a high stress environment? On July 15th come watch local celebrities compete in a BBQ cook-off for Cornwall’s 2nd annual Chopped event: Celebrity Chopped BBQ. The competition will be judged by culinary experts, and a winner will be announced at the end of the night. Celebrity Chopped BBQ is a fundraiser event in support of Maison Baldwin House.
Maison Baldwin House event provides safe shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence in Cornwall. They’ve been doing so for 35 years. Funds raised during the event will be used in continuing support of the women and children of Cornwall.
The cooking competition will be mirroring Food Network’s TV-Show Chopped. Chopped is a television show where competitors are given surprise ingredients to incorporate into a meal. Culinary experts then judge each meal and “chop” the eliminated competitor until only one remains.
The Chopped event will be at the Cornwall Civic Complex from 4:30pm until midnight (show starts at 5:30pm). Check out all of these amazing sources of entertainment:
- BBQ style buffet

Christmas spirit is alive and well in Cornwall and the Counties as Upper Canada Village's Alight at Night and The Alexandria Festival of Lights prepare to light up the region with their spectacular displays of Christmas lights.
One of the most fascinating displays of culture occurs at the Akwesasne International Powwow. On September 6 - 7, celebrate the traditions of the First Nation people.
