The building dates back to 1862 and became a museum in 1967 as part of a Centennial Project. The museum comprehensively depicts the story of Sir John Johnson and Loyalist followers who settled here during the American Revolution in 1784. It also contains memorobilia relating to the Northwest Trading Co. and the fur trade.

L'édifice a été construit en 1862 et est devenu un musée en 1967, comme partie d'un projet du Centenaire. Le musée dépeint de façon détaillée l'histoire de Sir John Johnson et des compagnons des Loyalistes qui se sont établis ici durant la Révolution américaine en 1784. Le musée contient également des souvenirs se rapportant à la traite des fourrures et à la compagnie Nortwest Trading Co.
