St. Andrew’s was founded as a Presbyterian Church in 1787 by Reverend John Bethune a Loyalist Chaplain. The present church building was started in the fall of 1812 and built in the neo-classic style. Work, slowed by the war, was finally completed in 1818. The present interior of the church dates from 1882.
