Experience Haitian Culture “By Land & By Sea”

June 21, 2018

Caribbean by Cornwall offers themed pop-up events throughout the year to promote and share Haitian food and culture.  Lee Theodore, the ambitious and proud creator of Caribbean by Cornwall, created this project in his spare time to share his family’s Haitian background with the city of Cornwall.

He says, “Our hope is that over time, we will have developed enough of a desire to professionally undertake an endeavour of having an established business in Cornwall.”

“By Land & By Sea” is one of the themed events created by Caribbean by Cornwall consisting of a 4 course meal. The evening will take place at Spinners Diner on Thursday, June 21st, at 6:00pm, and live music by well-known Cornwallite Robert Cote will accompany the meal.

Caribbean by Cornwall has been partnering with Spinners Diner, located downtown, for several of these themed events, offering a unique pairing of breakfast and lunch by day and Caribbean by night. Theodore is astounded by their willingness to support and partner with an up-and-coming entrepreneur, showing just how much Cornwall takes care of its own.

Theodore says, “We have been lucky enough to have partnered with Spinners Diner to be able to put on pop up events. It is these kinds of innovative community partnerships that make for unique offerings.”

The 4 course meal:

First course: Bouyon Bef (Haitian beef stew)

Second course: Light beet salad

Third course: White rice, accompanied by pea sauce and red sebaste with trimmings

Fourth course: Diri djon djon (Blackened rice through seasoning) served with stew beef and vegetables

This is a ticketed event, and tickets are still available to be purchased at Spinners Diner at a cost of $35 per person. Make sure not to miss this cultural event by purchasing your ticket now!
