Winter in Cronwall

Cornwall and Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry remain an active place in the winter months with many choices of indoor and outdoor sports.

Public skating is available at select times at the Benson Centre in Cornwall or at various arenas and outdoor rinks throughout the region. If you prefer a slower pace, try your hand at curling at the clubs in Winchester, Morrisburg, Alexandria and Cornwall.

There is no better way to enjoy a beautiful winter day than to be outside. Enjoy groomed snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails at the Summerstown Forest and Guindon Park.

For those looking to improve their downhill skiing and snowboarding skills, the Big Ben Ski Centre in Cornwall offers a family friendly hill to practice your technique.

Snowmobile trails criss-cross throughout the region with many local restaurants and pubs offering a warm respite from the frozen trails.

Ice fishing is another popular winter activity, with anglers taking to the frozen St. Lawrence River, check on the ice conditions before heading out!

Hockey enthusiasts will always find a game to watch at any of the many arenas throughout the region. Junior A hockey can be found with the Cornwall Colts at the Civic Complex and with Junior B teams taking to the ice in Winchester, Williamstown and Alexandria.

Alight at Night Festival remains a favourite family tradition at Upper Canada Village. Bundle up for an evening stroll through this picture-perfect postcard setting as close to one million lights adorn the heritage buildings, trees and fences, creating a one-of-a-kind winter wonderland!
