Those who like to hunt for that next treasured find will want to visit Cornwall on Sunday, August 12.

The first-ever Trash to Treasure Day will be taking place that day, a City-wide exchange of gently-used items that no longer have a home.

Residents participate by placing gently used, unwanted household items to the curb after 7 am for treasure hunters seeking a cool new find.

“Trash to Treasure Day is all about reducing the waste we send to the landfill,” said Danielle Watson, Waste Management Supervisor with the City of Cornwall. “Often, we throw away items that would be useful to someone else. Someone’s trash is always someone else’s treasure!”

It’s like a City-wide yard sale, but there are no prices – items are free to any caring person looking to give it a new home.

“This event is the first of its kind in Cornwall,” said Watson. “We hope to see lots of residents participating in this valuable program.”

Have fun hunting!
