Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off Announces Star Studded Concert Lineup
Cornwall, ON – April 30, 2013 – Cornwall’s most successful festival will be back this year with a great lineup of headliners, blending a variety of musical genres that will transcend generations and musical tastes. Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off 2013 will feature bands that have been thrilling audiences for decades, and artists that can be found on the current charts as well.
The festivities kick off on Thursday, July 11 with Down With Webster, a band that has been nominated for Juno Awards, Canadian Radio Music Awards and MuchMusic Video Awards. Down With Webster has sold over 50,000 albums in Canada and over 500,000 singles. These guys are an exciting band that showcases a unique blend of rock, pop and rap that will particularly appeal to a younger generation of music lovers.
Friday, July 12 sees a classic rock singer return to Cornwall as Lou Gramm, the voice of classic rock band Foreigner performs some of the band’s chart-toppers and an impressive collection of solo hits. Foreigner has reached over $80 million in album sales worldwide since their breakout in 1976, and Gramm’s solo efforts have also received critical acclaim. Gramm voiced hits like “Cold As Ice” and “I Wanna Know What Love Is” and was recently inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Lift-Off visitors will experience a bit of a change of pace from years past on Saturday, July 13 as a country act has been added, due to popular demand. Dean Brody, a Canadian country music star, has released 3 albums and won many Canadian Country Music Association Awards, including Male Country Artist of the Year in 2012. Adding a country music act was something patrons have requested for years, and the Lift-Off Board are happy to finally add a new genre to the lineup.
This year, Lift-Off has added an additional night of musical entertainment on Sunday, July 14, and this classic rock band has a connection to the city as their newest drummer, Roy Nichol, is a local talent. April Wine has been touring across the globe since 1969, and in that time has released more than 20 albums. Inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and nominated for 11 Juno Awards, April Wine has enjoyed steady success for over 40 years in Canada, as well as worldwide.
Lift-Off, of course, is more than just a great lineup of musical talent; it is also Ontario’s only hot-air balloon festival, a great carnival for the kids, and an fantastic family weekend right on the beautiful waterfront of Lamoureux Park.
