Ribfest Makes Its Way to Cornwall
Cornwall, ON – July 16, 2012 – Rib lovers rejoice! The Cornwall Seaway Lions Club is bringing their very own Ribfest to town, and they’re bringing one hell of a party with them.
Ribfests are popular throughout North America and entail much more than a backyard cook-off. Professional “Ribbers” from across the continent — Texas, North Carolina, Milwaukee, Las Vegas, and London, Ontario — show up to prove their ribs are the best you’ve ever had. Flavours that explode on your taste buds, fall-off-the-bone meat and delicious suds to wash it all down; that is what Ribfest is all about.
As excited as I am to fill my face with some of the best tasting ribs in the country, I’m equally excited for the awesome entertainment and events lined up for the festival. Taking place along the beautiful St. Lawrence River waterfront in Lamoureux Park, Ribfest has the perfect venue to include a host of fantastic festival activities. The Midway and carnival games are a staple in any festival, and Ribfest has a great one lined up from Classic Amusements. With rides for all excitement levels, the Midway is a hit at all events.
If the ribs, beautiful landscape, and wicked Midway weren’t enough to draw a crowd, the entertainment lineup certainly will be.
Marshall Dane and The Law headline the inaugural festival under the success of his 2011 album “Running Stop Signs.” Dane, selected as one of only 8 artists to be featured in the Canadian Country Music Awards “New Artists” showcase, has seen his radio exposure reach unprecedented levels with his latest single, “Sure Thing.”
A local favourite, Ambush, will also be taking stage at the Bandshell in Lamoureux Park at Ribfest. The perfect combination of country and rock has led to an immense following for the band, particularly in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, and has the band playing over 200 shows per year! These guys are sure to get your adrenaline going. You’ll get the chance to work off all those ribs, because you can’t help but get up and move your feet with the rest of the Ambush Army.
Perhaps one of the most authentic cover bands ever, ABBAMANIA, will take the stage on Saturday night. Whoever said disco was dead hasn’t seen these guys play. Spot on looks, combined with an indistinguishable sound has crowds all over the world thinking they are seeing the real thing.
The festival will feature two more amazing cover bands with Queen Flash and the Bayou Boys, covering Queen and Creedence Clearwater Revival, respectively. Also, there will be plenty of local talent to catch on the big stage.
Ribfest is the newest annual festival in Cornwall and the United Counties and is sure to bring fresh excitement to the area for years to come.
